401(k) Retirement Plan
Black Ink offers a company-sponsored 401(k) plan with a match program through Principal Financial Services.
The Program
- Available to full-time employees (FTE) on the 1st day following a 90-day waiting period
- Matches are calculated per pay period
- Match structure: 100% up to 3% of gross pay ($1 for $1), with an additional match of 50% up to 2% ($0.50 per $1) of Gross Compensation, including all bonuses
- Maximum Black Ink match: 4% of Gross Compensation per year
Note: PFL and disability insurance payments are not considered compensation. No true up or leveling company contributions are made.
Match Examples
Based on a $100 paycheck example:

After 5% employee contribution, the company match caps at 4% of Gross Compensation.

Contribution Changes
All contribution modifications require two actions:
- Make the change via the Principal website
- Send an email to management confirming the change
Please note: Changes may take up to two (2) payroll cycles to take effect.
